Features
- ✓Retrofits onto existing radiator valves — no re-piping
- ✓Room-level scheduling and per-room temperature control through the TUYA ecosystem
Overview
The smart thermostatic valve is a battery-powered radiator valve head with an NTC thermal sensor, ±1°C accuracy and a 5–35°C working range. It is radio-connected rather than hard-wired: Zigbee and Bluetooth, with TUYA IoT support. Two AA 1.5 V cells give approximately 12 months of operation, so no mains supply has to be run to the radiator position.
It is a retrofit part. The head fits onto existing radiator valves, so a circuit can be brought under room-by-room control without re-piping. Once paired, each valve follows its own schedule and temperature target through the TUYA ecosystem — a low-disruption way to address rooms that run hot or cold relative to the rest of a hydronic building.
Where it is used
- Room-by-room temperature control on existing hydronic radiator circuits
- Retrofit of older buildings where re-piping the heating circuit is impractical
- Guest rooms, offices and classrooms needing independent schedules on one system
- Properties with no mains wiring available at the radiator position
Selection & installation notes
- 01
Identify the valve body already installed before quoting. The head retrofits onto existing valves; the body is not part of the supplied scope, so its thread and actuator interface must be established first.
- 02
Plan the radio layout with the job. Zigbee / Bluetooth with TUYA IoT support does not by itself provide remote access or scheduling — confirm the gateway arrangement for the project.
- 03
The 5–35°C range at ±1°C suits space heating. Check it against the circuit design flow temperature, especially on high-temperature radiator systems.
- 04
Battery replacement is a scheduled service item at roughly 12 months. On commercial sites, agree with the operator who services them.
Common questions
Does the valve replace the existing radiator valve, or fit on top of it?
It retrofits onto existing radiator valves — the product is a valve head, so the body stays in place and no re-piping is involved. Identifying the installed valve body is the first step, because it determines whether the head fits.
Is a gateway required?
The valve communicates over Zigbee / Bluetooth with TUYA IoT support. Bluetooth is a local pairing path; app-based scheduling and remote access are normally provided through a Zigbee gateway on site, a separate item to confirm on the bill of materials.
How accurate is the room temperature reading?
The NTC sensor is specified at ±1°C over a 5–35°C range, measured at the valve position. On radiators inside cabinets or behind curtains, the sensed temperature can differ from the room average.
