- 01
Fix the unit type and capacity band first. The rooftop range covers 3–30 ton, with 3 and 5 ton standard and a line-up of 6.2 / 7.5 / 8.5 / 10 / 12.5 / 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 25 / 30 ton, plus deep customisation to 50–100 ton. Power is 220V / 60Hz / 1Ph, 3-phase at 5 ton.
- 02
Decide which factory options belong in the unit at order: the economizer or outdoor-air package, energy recovery, hot gas reheat, electric heat, heat pump heating, higher MERV filtration, higher static pressure and BACnet or Modbus options are all factory-selected.
- 03
For DOAS or make-up air work, decide whether the unit conditions outdoor air only or delivers ventilation air and space conditioning together. The answer sets airflow, tempering load and cabinet arrangement.
- 04
Decide how capacity is staged where the load varies. VRF systems and modular air-to-water chillers and heat pumps are the multi-zone, staged-capacity routes, selected against the project load with system design support.
- 05
Where a building management system is present, name the protocol and points list with the quotation. The points list is what the controls contractor prices, and communication is a factory option on the rooftop range.
How it connects to the rest of the system
- With air conditioning and smart controls, the control layer is shared: the AFT533D covers 24V control on a split arrangement, while a rooftop unit reaches the BMS through the BACnet or Modbus option ordered with it.
- With heat pumps, VRF systems and modular air-to-water units use hydronic components from the same range — mixing centre, manifold, actuator and valves, magnetic filter — so plant room and equipment are selected together.
- With ventilation and indoor air quality, make-up air and exhaust must be balanced: MUD motorized dampers from 4" to 10", diffusers and grilles, and pre-insulated PIR panel for duct runs are specified across both segments.
- With the core component lines, the rooftop units draw on the same in-house work: fin heat exchangers in L, I, U or G configuration, titanium and tube heat exchangers and sheet-metal cabinets to customer specification.
Common questions
What is the rooftop capacity range, and can it be customised beyond it?
From 3 to 30 ton, with 3 and 5 ton standard and a line-up of 6.2 / 7.5 / 8.5 / 10 / 12.5 / 15 / 17.5 / 20 / 25 / 30 ton; above that, deep customisation covers 50–100 ton including DOAS and make-up air. Power is 220V / 60Hz / 1Ph.
What information do you need to make a selection?
The cooling and heating load, whether the duty is space conditioning, DOAS or make-up air, the outdoor-air quantity, filtration class and external static pressure, the electrical service available and any BMS protocol.
Is BACnet or Modbus included, or is it an option?
It is a factory option on the rooftop range, ordered with the unit. BACnet and Modbus describe communication protocol support rather than a certification, and the points list should be agreed at quotation.
Can you provide drawings and submittals for the coordinated model?
Model-level submittal sheets, selection and match data, and drawings are issued per model on request, so the coordinated drawing matches the unit supplied. Certification evidence is issued only where we hold verified certificates.
