Residential
Matched split, dual-fuel and ventilation combinations for Canadian houses, where the winter design condition usually decides the equipment size.
What decides the design
- Heating design temperature dominates equipment selection: the outdoor unit is sized on the local winter design condition, and the cooling load follows from the same match rather than setting it.
- Retrofit work is bounded by what the house already has — line-set routing, plenum dimensions, panel capacity and the clearances available around the outdoor unit.
- Below-grade and over-garage rooms behave differently from the space the thermostat sees, and the duct system rather than the equipment is often what decides whether they hold temperature.
- Model-level capacity and refrigerant data is requested early, for the permit file, for programme applications and for the homeowner record.
Recommended system combination
These families are selected together, not individually — the match between them is what makes the system work.
Side-Discharge Outdoor Units
air conditioning
Outdoor unit for the main living area — inverter heat pump, 1.5–5 ton, 24V control, available with R-410A or R-32.
SEER2 18 inverter side-discharge condensing units, 1.5–5 ton, designed to pair with A-Coils, AHUs and field replacement of existing condensers.
A-Coil & Cased Evaporator Coils
air conditioning
Matched cased evaporator coil in one of three coil sizes, with custom casing, dimensions and circuiting where the existing plenum is non-standard.
Cased evaporator coils matched to our side-discharge outdoor units, in three coil sizes. Custom and OEM coil configurations available.
Furnaces
heat pumps
95% AFUE gas furnace, 2–5 ton, for dual-fuel and add-on configurations where a gas heating source stays in place.
Gas furnaces for dual-fuel and add-on heat pump configurations, 2–5 ton.
ERV / HRV — AspireVent Series
ventilation
Balanced ventilation at 100 or 150 CFM, side or top port, with auto-balancing that does not depend on field flow keys.
Heat and energy recovery ventilators, 100 / 150 CFM, side or top port, with ECM motors and a washable recovery core.
Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat — AFT533D
smart controls
One 24V thermostat for heating, cooling and HRV/ERV modes, with dual-fuel changeover and support for remote zone sensors.
A 24V Wi-Fi thermostat with native HRV / ERV control, dual-fuel support and humidity management — designed for Canadian homes and cold-climate performance.
Selection points
- 01
Size the outdoor unit on the winter design condition first: in most Canadian houses the heating requirement decides the model, and cooling capacity then follows from the matched indoor coil.
- 02
Confirm the coil match and the refrigerant on the submittal sheet: the cased coil range covers R-410A, R-32 and R-454B, the side-discharge outdoor unit R-410A or R-32. Keep one refrigerant across the pair.
- 03
Where a furnace stays in place, state the dual-fuel changeover strategy at design stage. The AFT533D supports dual fuel and 2-stage auxiliary heat, and can drive a humidifier or dehumidifier on one or two wires.
- 04
Establish the ventilation airflow per dwelling before choosing ports: the 100 and 150 CFM models come in side-port and top-port versions, which decides between a joist bay and a closet with vertical duct runs.
- 05
Check the defrost and drainage arrangement against the outdoor unit location. Top-discharge models offer automatic or manual defrost and suit positions with restricted side clearance, such as under a deck.
- 06
Residential zoning (motorised zone dampers, zone control panel and bypass damper) is in development. Until it is released, room-level correction is done with the remote zone sensors supported by the AFT533D thermostat.
