Overview

The fin heat exchanger is the air-side coil component of a heat pump or air conditioning unit. The factory offers it in L, I, U and G shapes, which is what allows one coil to wrap around the corner of a chassis or follow a cabinet that a flat coil would not fit. Shape selection is driven by the mechanical envelope as much as by the air-side duty.

Two further characteristics are listed: a dual control system and a distinctive processing technology in production. The part is supplied to OEM and ODM customers and heat pump assemblers, and customisation is part of the offering, so the specification is agreed with the buyer rather than picked from a fixed list.

Choose the shape from the chassis, not the other way round. The L, I, U and G options exist to fit different cabinet and airflow geometries, so settle the envelope and air path first.

Send both sides of the duty together: entering air conditions, airflow, refrigerant and circuiting. Coil selection against only one side usually leads to a revision later.

Confirm connection positions and header arrangement against the assembly drawing. Coil connections drive the pipework around them, so specifying them late forces changes on both sides.

Dimensional, fin and performance data is confirmed per model on the submittal sheet. State the customisation required and the factory will quote against it.

Which fin shape should I specify?

It depends on the envelope the coil has to fit. The I shape is the flat arrangement; L, U and G shapes let the coil turn corners or wrap the chassis. Give the factory the cabinet geometry and air path and the shape follows from that.

What is the dual control system for?
